Apologies if this is a silly question, but I just can’t find what I’m looking for, and I suspect it’s because I don’t know the terminology I need.
I’m helping a small offline society update their website. At present, the (long, long) list of reports they’ve produced is simply a massive block of HTML. I’d like to find a WP plugin that would allow me to create some sort of entry for each report (with details like its title, year of publication, editor, etc – and ideally a thumbnail of its cover), and allow users to filter according to those details. Bonus points if there are multiple display options like tiles vs lists, and if there’s a built-in freetext search.
The lead scientist is keen on having an Amazon.com-style “box” for each report that would display such details.
I’m a WP novice, and the closest I’ve been able to find has been inventory plugins. Some of these seem like they’d do the job, but they come with a lot of bells and whistles we don’t need – the society doesn’t sell anything, nor do we manage any inventory! The reports are all available as PDFs.
I’ve tried looking for document management plugins, but those seem to be focused on managing files in the WP dashboard, not presenting them to users.
Help!
