I purchased a “Personal” site plan and domain name through [Wordpress.com]) yesterday.
Now, for various reasons I want to use a different provider to create my site.
No content has been published to the site.
I still want to use the domain name, but with a different host.
I am not worried about the domain name being scooped up if I have to give it up and re-acquire it later, but I’m wondering what my best course of action is.
If I cancel my [WordPress.com]) Personal “site plan”, but do not cancel the domain registration, will I still have access to be able to transfer the domain name to another provider?
What is the best case timeframe for being able to use this domain with another provider?
Is there any advantage to actually cancelling the domain registration purchase?
