I’m about to sign a contract for my first freelance project, and was hoping to get some input on best practices.
What are the best practices for handling access to the Admin emails, cPanel configuration, phpMy Admin, and other related things? The client already has the hosting, WordPress installation, and domain.
When it comes to plug-ins, is it best to purchase them and install on the site, or have the client purchase them and provide you with licensing information. I don’t currently have plans to take on multiple clients, so buying multi-site licenses doesn’t really make sense. Obviously if I purchase, the cost gets added to the contract.
The completed site will contain forms to allow users to do things like manage a mailing list, staff directory, and events calendar.
The contract will be a flat rate for the initial build, with negotiated benchmarks for determining completion. Then an hourly rate for ongoing support/maintenance/development. It will contain provisions for additional expenses such as purchasing stock images, fonts, additional plug-ins, and similar things.
Any additional input would be appreciated.
