When hiring a WordPress developer from Upwork

[ad_1]

Got a question in terms of hiring a WordPress dev. My situation is that we already have a functioning WooCommerce store that’s generating sales daily, have quite a big customer list and we just need to make some necessary changes to the translations, update the PHP and fix any other bugs that I’ve missed.

My worry is the safety of the store, I’ve already installed Activity Log Viewer but not sure what other precautions to take.

Is there any other way I could protect the store just in case the dev tries to bug it or mess with it?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Daily (or more frequently) backup. There’s not really much else you can do. Keep in mind that people on Upwork rely on their reputation to get them work. No-one on that site is going to mess up your site deliberately, but you should have backups (being sent to a secure, remote location) regardless.
