Has anyone gone and found a WP professional to get you going? I purchased a domain and installed WordPress but immediately realized (even in its simplicity) that I don’t have the time to learn how to get this going. What has been your experience in hiring someone to do it for you?

You could search for someone on Upwork, search for a web design agency on Behance or simply look at sites that you like and try to find who developed them (search for a hint in their footers or why not, ask their owners).

Look on meetup for your local WordPress meetup and ask for recommendations there. Ask for proof of past work and references
In Slovenia, searching for websites/web devs ends up with 7/10 of them being WordPress devs, some work WP exclusively. Might be different in your country, but in my country, finding a WP/Woo professional is as easy as searching for a web developer on Google.

You could try hiring WordPress professionals on Codeable. If budget is tight there is always Upwork. To find the right one always look for reviews and the examples of previous work. Good luck!
My clients come from referrals and by helping and answering questions online. You’re doing the right thing by asking the community. Also ask others in your field or specialty who run websites you’re impressed with.
