Hi,
I am currently keeping all the files in my WordPress media library but I would like to move them somewhere else and use the “insert from URL” function to stream them to my site. I tried using Google Drive, DropBox, and MediaFire but all of these give me an error message in WordPress. I followed a guide to change the Google and dropbox links to work in WordPress but they still don’t.
So, what is the best way to store audio and video off site to save my own resources when users watch or listen to them?

If you mean to store them for free and serve them up to people, there is no good site to do that. That is not a thing that exists, hosting costs money for a reason.
Google Drive, DropBox, and MediaFire aren’t to be used for service website assets, as per their T&CS.
BunndyCDN and S3 are file service platforms specifically designed for this purpose.

Digital Ocean Storage Buckets are cheap and have a CDN just for this purpose.
In a CDN or S3 Storage. Recommended Cloudflare R2. First 15 GB is absolutely free with unlimited download
