Hey lads,
I wanna start freelancing soon. While I‘m coming from the UI/UX area, I want to offer an all inclusive service for websites – Design, Documentation, Maintenance, Hosting, etc.
I simply want to help clients realize their business ideas in the digital world.
You guess it: In order to achieve that, I need my customers to connect to their website to manage the content, etc.
While I worked with WordPress a while back, I‘m not sure how „good“ and performant it is in the present day where cool stuff like Ghost, Craft, Grav, etc. exists (sadly, this shit is too much for me – I can read code, but I‘m not a developer and I can’t code a custom theme).
I like WordPress for its functionality, but the downsides would be that it’s just too much for most clients, it will probably cause errors in the long term, it’s not always reliable, sometimes sluggish, etc.
So: What do you say? Why might WP be a good CMS? Why not?
Do you have any other ideas?

If you aren’t technical, you aren’t going to be able to offer site building, maintenance and hosting services. Team up with someone who can do that side of things.

And who is the one to build the sites? I miss developer in this picture.
So I’m a developer and here is my process:
1. For simple presentation websites that don’t require special functionality but some pages and a blog, I create a static website (HTML & CSS) and use a flat-file CMS (a custom version of HTMLy) for blogging purposes. This combination offers unmatched speed and security.
2. For complex websites I always use WordPress but make sure to spend at least a few hours after everything is set up to increase the page speed score over 90%.
With or without WordPress, all my websites are optimized for speed, SEO, and accessibility.
