I agreed to help a friend redo her website for an old business she’s reviving. She has zero website building experience and no budget beyond paying for hosting. She wants something that will look nice (obviously), but won’t need many extras.
Years ago I built a site for a no longer functioning business using the free versions of Astra/Elementor, but using the same I’d have to do a lot of refreshing so I’m open to other theme/builder options which may be better in 2023. Since I’m busy, this is being done as a favor, and “you get what you pay for,” I’m looking to use and modify a free template as opposed to building something completely from scratch.
At this point in time I’m narrowing my options down to Astra/Kadence/Neve. I’m looking for that sweet spot that optimizes available free templates (native or with plugins), ease of setup/use/maintenance, and the usual basic desirable features.
I’m guessing I can make her business fit into an existing template for a non-related industry, but if there’s a template that already fits her type of business all the better. The business is connecting first world travelers (looking for experiences more than just sightseeing) who want to volunteer their time with orphanages/animal shelters/etc. in a developing country. Lot of photos and storytelling. I thought a charity based theme/template but she’s not asking for donations (though participants pay to volunteer) and won’t be accepting payments on the site.
