I have a WooCommerce site and we’re experiencing disk and CPU usage problems on SiteGround. We plan to migrate our site from SiteGround VPS to another VPS provider. Since our customers are primarily based in Spain, we prefer a VPS provider with a data center in Madrid.
I’m new to servers, VPS, and migrations, so I’m seeking advice from system admin or WordPress experts on the best options for our WooCommerce site, which has a large number of products and a database with approximately 25k monthly visitors.
Our main goals are to fix CPU usage issues, eliminate 500 errors, and make our site lightning fast, secure, and stable with no downtime. We would like to use Redis for object caching and either LiteSpeed or Nginx as our web server (I prefer LiteSpeed as I heard it is most fastest).
SiteGround was a managed VPS provider, and as a non-technical person, I’m unsure how we’ll manage a non-managed VPS. Our budget is limited, so we can’t afford an expensive server or system admin, but we want to retain features like automatic backups, staging, and security that we had on SiteGround.
I would appreciate any expert advice on a checklist for hiring a freelancer on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr. Specifically, what should I consider before hiring, and how can I verify that the job is done correctly?

An 8GB server from Linode, Vultr or Digital Ocean will do the job. Use RunCloud to manage the server if DevOps/SSH isn’t in your wheel-house – it can also be setup to do Redis, Backup, Litespeed, Cloning. For Security – Cloudflare and Worfence are what I use for my servers.
Don’t hire people from Fiverr or Upwork to do this – this is a job for experienced developers.
