Which Page Builder will suit this project?

[ad_1]

I'm an experienced wordpress-based webdev. I've made my own custom themes. I've also been using Page Builders for years, starting with Divi.

My last few sites have used Bricks, which I love for it's ease-of-use, power, ecosystem and community.

But I'm totally stuck when choosing tooling for a current project!

I want to build out a very simply info-site for a client.
The client wants to present public information. Chances are, it'll be a single main page with a hero section, some bodies of text (possibly with illustrations) and a faq.

Simple, right?

But I want to allow the customer the capacity to edit the page.
This rules out Bricks.

In the past I would have reached for Beaver Builder. And I started building the site with Beaver Builder… but it feels kinda not nice, reverting to an older generation of builder that generates such a gnarly dom.

I would love love love it if I could use the block editor. And I considered using the native editor along with Greenshift.

But the admin screen for the block editor still sucks!
Even I, a deeply experience WP user and developer get a case of serious brainmangle trying to create a full-width row with three columns. I can't give my users this steaming pile of editor.

I could coach a user to work around a single glaring issue. But with both Greenshift/Greenshift and Astra/Spectra, the backend there are some pretty significant differences between the backend and frontend.

Anyway, I honestly didn't mean this post to be Yet Another Block Editor Griefpost. Apologies for that.

I want to empower my editor to edit a everso-sightly complex layout.
By that, I mean text blocks in columns, and a faq.

Their requirements for page layout might change, so I don't want to simply give them custom fields.

As far as I can tell, for ease-of-use/ease-of-learning Beaver Builder is still the best for this.

Is there an ideal page builder for this task?
Or even an adequate one?

  1. The Editor is great for giving the customer control in certain areas while reatricting other parts. Custom blocks can do what you want. You can diable all blocks. Build custom blocks with custom controls. Use ACF or Carbon Fields for any custom field needs.

  2. ACF and Gutenberg. Master that method by using it for every project. Switching from theme to theme for each project wastes time in the long run.
