Which route is better when re-creating an existing website?

My domain is bought separately but my website is hosted on Wix. One of the routes I can go through is backup/import form my local website to the host via plugin. Would I need to disable DNS connection to Wix first before I can use the WordPress on the new hosting provider? I have installed WordPress on cPanel but can’t access it. It only opens up my current Wix website. The test server also shows an error. And I’ve seen some tutorials demonstrating copying/pasting files from folders, is this the better option in this?

The second one is would it be easier if I just redesign my new WordPress website? I kinda want to clean it again. Would that also involve disabling DNS on Wix to connect it to the new host?
