Upgrading to MYSQL 8, has TONS of advantages, it is a much faster database, and can process a lot more transactions and handles read and rights much better.
So you should definitely look in upgrading you WordPress stack if you have not yet done already.

You make it sound like it just came out. MySQL 8 was released 6 years ago.
That said 24% of WP sites are still using 5.7:

Those sites are probably using shared hosting though and don’t have a way to upgrade MySQL.

5.7 reached EOL last October and 8.x has been out for years. Most everyone should be running 8 or MariaDB 10.
