Who polices my content on a WordPress site?

I have two domain names and a host provider. Sites come with WordPress. In the past week, I have noticed an alarming number of friends' FB pages and their community-focused sites taken down. One of them was a site about a community garden, for heaven's sake. If I create a new site for them with WordPress, who has the authority to take it down?

  1. You mean domain or hosting suspended?
    Anyone can report your domain.
If theres a something wrong that can be taken down by hosting or domain registrar

  2. I had a site on a sub domain of my main site get reported for abuse / phishing by a crawler bot run by a company in California. Vultr shut down my VPS running that site. I removed the site and started my VPS back up.

  3. If you mean WordPress.com, then they have the power to shut down your site. Read their terms.

If you set up a WordPress site yourself on a VPS, then you are still held to the VPS providers terms. Though these are typically much less rigid than WordPress.com’s.

  4. 1) Your web hosts Acceptable Use Policy
    2) Country its hosted in or has a cross border agreement with, AKA Australia wanting to police the internet of dangerous political memes
