Why do people pay for WP devs

[ad_1]

So I’m getting into the WordPress world , I’ve been building sites for clients and I’m just wondering… Why do clients pay thousands for someone to build their site for them when they could easily watch YouTube tutorials and learn to use a builder in no time, and end up saving thousands depending on the scope of the project. Is it due to not wanting to be bothered by a new thing, Or do they think it’s really difficult?

Clients keep paying(which I’m happy with ofc) so I’m just wondering , I’ve even recommended one client learn how to use it so they don’t need to pay someone every time they want a basic edit, they were not interested at all , in through one ear, out the next.

Edited: I’m just wondering as I had someone say this to me “why would I hire you if I can learn it easily” so I would like to know what I could say as a rebuttal, all I was able to think of was that it’s time saving, that’s why people would hire someone.

  1. Why do you pay for a mechanic to replace a transmission? There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do that.

Why do you pay an accountant (or a software company) to do your taxes? You can go to the IRS office and get all the forms for free.

  2. We pay a company to work on our WP site because they 1) have design teams with DESIGNERS and not just coders who think the are designers and 2) Experienced and knowledgeable developers. We’re not a development house and though I know enough to be dangerous I have neither the time nor skills to do everything we want to do.

  3. Time friend, time. They instead run their businesses than spend hours watching “youtube tutorials”

  4. Have you seen the thousands apon thousands of question in here asking if there a plugin that does this and that… Well when they couldn’t find one that did what the client wanted. They call me.

Have you seen that most website that use a theme builder all look exactly like the demo for that theme. Well when the clients wants a bespoke looking site that you can’t make with Elementor. They call me.

    Etc etc

  5. Because you don’t know what you don’t know and trained developers have much better troubleshooting and problem solving skills. When you update to the latest pho version and things break you need the professionals.

  6. Time. Time. Time. I recently came back to WordPress for my side project because I’m tired of being the sole possessor of tech knowledge in our non-profit. But the site still needs to be themed, and at this point I would pay someone to do it for me if we had the extra cash. This is coming from a full-stack developer with 20 years of experience with php.

  7. If you have the time, ram and cpu to learn, do it, the more you know the best life you can get
