Why does Google Analytics Purge Cache add MB even if I’ve made no changes on the site

I got Site Check from google on our WordPress site. Whenever I look, and even when I ‘ve added no new posts, the cache size has grown to 159MB. I select purge cache and it goes down to 2 files, 144 bytes.

Should I do purge cache every day? Does it make the site faster?
