Why is Yoast storing absolute file paths in open_graph_image_meta

Debugging a bunch of absolute paths in migrated databases; and I found Yoast is storing both an absolute URL for the og:image as well as an absolute file path to it in open\_graph\_image\_meta in the wp\_yoast\_indexable table.

Using the full URL rather than creating it to reflect the current hosting environment is annoyingly lame but I can understand why it is useful.

Why there’s also an additional path tot he file from the root of the server file system I really don’t get. What on earth is that for? And can it be avoided?
