Why the Recent WordPress Drama Could Be the Best Thing for the Platform’s Future

[ad_1]

The recent drama with Matt Mullenweg might be the best thing to happen to WordPress.

Remember what happened with Tesla and the EV market?

Musk had a solid grip until his controversial moves shook things up. Now, we’re seeing similar waves in the WordPress world.

WordPress powers over 40% of the entire web, from the official White House site to Taylor Swift’s website.

This CMS isn’t going anywhere.

If anything, we’re about to witness some incredible iterations—something long overdue for a platform that started as a simple blogging tool.

Just like Linux with its various distributions, WordPress will evolve in different directions.

Instead of everyone following a single mission, Matt’s actions are sending millions off to pursue their own paths.

Epic times ahead.

  1. Interesting take! It’s true that sometimes big shifts or controversies can spur innovation. WordPress, with its massive user base and open-source foundation, has the potential to evolve in multiple directions, much like other open-source projects. Whether these changes bring fragmentation or more innovation, it’ll be exciting to see how the community adapts. Regardless, WordPress’s influence on the web is undeniable, and its flexibility allows for continued growth, even if it takes unexpected turns! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

  2. Yeah, it’s just not gonna play out this way. Your allusion to Tesla and the EV market would be more comparable to other CMS platforms overtaking wordpress.

Linux and its various distributions are not comparable to WordPress in this sense. Linux distros share the linux kernel, it’s the other aspects like package managers, drivers, and Tooling that differ. The Linux kernel is maintained by the Linux Foundation, different distros aren’t the same as different forks.

If the Linux Foundation started pulling this crap, the Linux would quickly lose much of its favorability.

    You’re in denial lol.
