Recently, after a couple years of break, I was planning to build a simple portfolio site in wordpress for a brother. I usually build sites with webflow and I can easily visualize the process.
But mahn! Elementor (in Free version) and other page builders are still the same. I have to struggle a ton just to edit the colors! Typography! Header & Footers! I can't even reset them to default values easily! Let's not talk about the restricted features.
Please, suggest me how do I stay patient in this tough time! I really wanna start coding it in nextjs and host it in vercel. Without spending more money on themes and plugins, I'm seeing no light ahead with wordpress! Compared to webflow, wordpress developer experience is nuts.
Will there be any ground breaking changes to wordpress anytime soon? While previewing the themes, shouldn't I see the theme preview properly rather than a blog page template?
Mahn I really wanna start contributing to a free page builder like webflow built in JS ecosystem.
(I'm sorry for over exaggerating things out of frustration. I know it's a community based platform. But I would like to see a good change.)
I came from Webflow and adapted to Bricks quite fast.
You should be setting up your fonts, colors etc. In your theme, then just using elementor styling when you want to break away from your general styling.
Or assign classes and use css to target and style specific things.
I don’t think So. I have done webflow certification, taught it to teams, and still for personal and commercial work I use WordPress ALWAYS – webflow is extremely limited, extremely small in terms of what it can really do. Webflow and framer are great for small, quick, brochure sites. For non professionals, students, small businesses who want to diy. But that’s all it’s for. Nothing more.
Even the enterprise of webflow can’t do simplest things you might be able to do with a WordPress install.
Bricks builder (wp) alone is more advanced than webflow enterprise .
What is really cherry on cake, is if you ever speak to webflow teams, to ask few technical questions, and they sound like sales reps with zero development knowledge
You can set all of the things you mentioned in easily overviewable theme option pages for most themes.
Personally I love Oxygen + CORE framework.
