Welcome to the WordPress world, @geepy! Here are some questions and small tasks that will allow me to help you better:
Firstly, are you able to provide a link to the site you’re working on so I can have a direct look at a sample post? A link to the specific page or post where you’ve been unable to widen the Post Title would be ideal.
In which specific template are you editing the Post Title block? For example, I just changed the alignment of the Post Title block in the Single template to Full Width and it did widen as expected, as you can see here:
And on the front end:
Could you please take a screenshot of your template editor screen where you’re working on the Post Title block so I can take a look? You can use a tool like and paste the generated link here, or use your preferred screenshot tool and upload the image to your Media Library. Then, insert an Image block here by clicking the + block inserter and selecting Image. Then, click “Insert from URL” and paste your Media Library URL into the block.
Thanks!

I managed to move the block by dragging it, and then the width changed, but now the text in the block just says ‘Post Title’ unless I preview the website, why is that?
If I click on the block in edit mode how can see which blog post is connected to the block? It’s confusing that it just says post title.
I wonder if you could recommend which online training or tutorials I should read through to learn how to use Word Press and Word Press themes from the beginning, because it’s going to take forever for me to do anything at this rate! I have built sites with Wix before and in comparison Word Press doesn’t seem at all intuitive – I need to find a way to learn a bit more quickly because trial and error isn’t working so far 🙂

Unfortunately the image didn’t come through.

What you see in the template editor Post Title block is just placeholder content. The placeholder text for the Post Title block is “Post Title,” so that’s normal. It means that the template will pull in the post title for each of your blog posts.

Think of a template is just a container for your content: your posts and pages. When you view your site on the front end, then you’ll see all your post content integrated within the relevant templates. Your posts themselves are located in the Posts area of your dashboard.

I’d recommend the collection of resources gathered here:
That should help you get started!
I’ll mark this thread as resolved since you solved your original issue, but if you need further help, please feel free to start a new thread.
