Wondering if it’s worth starting a business designing & hosting WP?

So for context; over the last 10 years I’ve on-and-off done website design and have provided hosting for clients including VPS from scratch (DNS, optimization, CDN, backups etc.).

I have experience settings things up in terms of WordPress specific hosting and I have a unlimited reseller style hosting (although, it’s _not_ like those ones that cram too many customers onto one server…), For VPS, I usually use something like litespeed and I’ve recently found out about AWS Lightsail which is actually extremely fast for web, even if the VPS itself is lower powered then a VPS at Linode or DO.

In terms of designing and creating a website (and managing the server) I have almost a decade of experience, and I have even worked at a premium VPS hosting company.

However, in the last 3 years or so I’ve given up doing all of this because I just can’t find the clients I don’t know if it’s my particular way of dealing with clients (I have ADHD) or just the fact that I haven’t done advertising, as well as covid obviously being a problem.

Do people _generally speaking_ think it’s worth getting involved in helping people with their websites
and making sure what they want to do works?
…because it seems like on this subreddit there a lot of people who could use help beyond that which this subreddit can provide.

If I multiply that by the number of businesses and other people who probably don’t use this subreddit I would assume that there’s a huge number of potential clients.

I’m just very bad at self marketing and sales promotion and also I don’t code in PHP so I can’t deal with absolutely everything.

For the WP veterans:

Do you reckon the market is oversaturated with small and medium agencies(?) or do you think it’s worth someone getting back into it who who has considerably more experience than just “drag-and-drop building a website” – which is apparently what a lot of new and younger designers are doing, and not actually managing the back-end at all (or lack the knowledge to do so)…
What kinds of extra things do you do for your clients?
What have you found the most effective way to promote your services?

What do you do to prove to new clients you can do what they want, if anything?
