  1. I used to use AIOS but in recent years changed to WordFence.

The reason because I find that AIOS don’t have the feature of notifying you if someone login to your site. AIOS also did not have weekly report that I received just like from Wordfence.

And in my years of using AIOS for my clients, it conflicted with several plugins. So far WordFence is pretty friendly working with other plugins, in my opinion.

  2. Wordfence.

Although, a word of caution. Wordfence slows the website down and sometimes can cause a lot of trouble.

If you can afford a server side AV solution like Imunify360, that’ll be a better choice.

  3. If you require more advanced features and real-time monitoring, Wordfence might be the better option.

  4. How much better are the paid versions of WordFence than the free version?

The paid version are even more expensive than paying for antivirus.

EDIT: Also, how much work do paid web hosts do to protect WordPress websites? I am using Hostinger, and in their dashboard my site is safe.
