WordPress Advice Needed: I am Plugin-Phobic

[ad_1]

Please go easy on me. I am an old lady and a volunteer for a non-profit. Maybe this will be good for laughs.

I want to limit the number of archive months displayed in the Archives. It is too long. I read about the plugins I can install. I have installed plugins in the past that made parts of the site stop working – I am *plugin-phobic.*

**I only know how to add and format content – words, links, images and videos. I can also make it look pretty good because I was a print designer – but I have a poor background on the technicalities of websites.**

I am afraid of destroying what we have and having to find someone to fix it. Same problem with adding code to php – I don’t have a good enough understanding of it and it’s not a good use of my golden years to learn to code. Plus. why? Isn’t AI going to take this over?

I read about the [Collapsing Archives](https://wordpress.org/plugins/collapsing-archives/) plugin which uses java script which I also don’t know and the the [Compact Archives](https://wordpress.org/plugins/compact-archives/) plugin. Then, there is the manual method – snippets, php and I don’t know what I might destroy! Seems like [Compact Archives](https://wordpress.org/plugins/compact-archives/) may be the one to try? If things go to hell can I just uninstall the plugin, remove the thing from the widget, and will it go back to what it was before?

If you got this far, thank you for any advice you can offer.
