WordPress and git

Hi

I’m building a WordPress site on my localhost using XAMPP. I’d like to continue building on this site from another computer. If this was any other software project I’d just chuck it on Github and clone it from there.

Is git something that’s commonly used with WordPress? What would be the standard way of achieving this?
