WordPress automatically scaling images larger?

Anyone ever experienced this? WordPress randomly started scaling my images larger. I compressed a few images then reuploaded them (under different names) and once they landed in the media library they had “-scaled” attached to the end of the name and ended up being almost twice the file size as the original file.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Trying to optimize.
