Hi All,
I am aiming to try and make a small website for my wife to showcase her side business. It will be fairly simplistic site that shows product, an order form that goes to email, and perhaps some type of blog or page where she can update her upcoming vendor shows and the like.
Its been decades since I’ve played around with web design (Think Dreamweaver, Flash) era. I even threw together a dreamweaver site up on hostgator but the Adobe subscription costs are insane for it. Thus I am thinking of WordPress. I was fiddling with Elementor today and it seems decent enough (though very limited without paying) but after browsing on this subreddit it sound like everyone hates this program here.
Any recommendations for software that could accomplish what I’m aiming for? Something decent enough to build a good solid site with clean code, good drag and drop, and on the cheaper end since I am not aiming to be a professional, just a single site?

I’ll get downvoted for this but: Elementor gets a rough treatment because it is so popular – newbies use it and don’t know how to build a site properly (i.e. huge images, 99 plugins, etc), then complain that their site is slow. Yes, the code the Elementor outputs it more bloated that it should be, but that in itself doesn’t make the site slow. If you know what you’re doing, Elementor isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.
Look into GeneratePress. Easy to use and was my first step up from the free themes.
