Hello everyone!
So I am a web developer, and I am trying to fix up (not completely redo, though) two websites for a friend right now. First time using WordPress and – while I initially figured it’s a website editor like any other – it’s driving me absolutely insane.
First thing is this about how WordPress doesn’t actually store any of the actual HTML code on the local server but rather retrieves it from an external location? I found this out the hard way by “archiving” the public\_html-folders to download the entire site for offline editing, only to spend an hour hopelessly looking through every random php file there trying to locate where they are all pointing to. Is there any way to edit the WordPress site offline – *outside* of official WordPress apps – to be able to edit the code in a more straightforward way?
If not, I guess I will have to find a way around the mess and do the best of in-editor element-by-element html editing. Which one of the sites (let’s call it page A) actually does pretty conveniently by taking me to this visual editor (with limited, but existing, html and css editing support) in a new page when I press “edit” under the “pages” menu in the Dashboard. The other one (page B), however, takes me to this strange, messy in-screen code-only editor – and *which* code it lets me edit I don’t even know. How can I get page A’s editor for page B?
[Editing page A]) [Editing page B ])And lastly, does WordPress sites get some sort of SSL certification automatically or is it any point connecting them to Cloudflare or similar? I am asking because one of the sites, which allegedly has *three* SSL “plugins”, give an “unsafe site” warning every time before entering.
Thank you so much for any assistance with navigating this jungle hihi(:
