Hi,
I’ve recently moved onto WordPress after acquiring myself a domain and a great deal to have it running.
With the recent decision to finally make myself a portfolio that I can share around, uploading and showcasing my projects, I’ve come to a complete shock that it’s not as responsive as I thought it was, because during my studies the account we were given to practice used Elementor Pro which made some of the work easy.
Now, I’ve been creating design projects throughout the years and designed myself an updated portfolio in Figma to import to WordPress, I can’t seem to find something that will do that smoothly since I’m using Elementor Free nothing it working properly and it looks like a dookie.
Is there any other way to design your wordpress with better plugins that don’t require subscription? I’m frustrated from the result and WordPress in general on how it confusing to use than other known website builders.

Ditch Elementor. WordPress will respond just fine out of the box using simple themes like 2024, GeneratePress (free), et al. Certainly you can make responsive sites with fancy page builders and full site editors, but you have to commit to learning WordPress, along with CSS, to do it.
WordPress can be a bit of a puzzle but it’s only overwhelming at first, if Elementor is not doing the trick, try other free page builders like Beaver Builder or SiteOrigin Page Builder . They can make things easier and more responsive. For your Figma designs, exporting them as images or using a Figma-to-HTML service could help integrate them into WordPress more smoothly.
Don’t ditch Elementor, learn to be better at it, faster. I’m a web designer/developer with 12+ years of experience and here’s my take. You will always read someone say “don’t use elementor or divi” do your own theme, just use wordpress. If you want to be fast and do quality websites, Elementor can be very helpful. The learning curve against using just Guttenberg is way better.
Using Figma to design your websites is a great way to do it, you will design before dealing with containers, styles, etc. One thing is to always have in mind what you will do in Elementor, this will give you an advantage.
One more thing, if you are using Elementor Pro, just use that, don’t install more plugins, Elementor Pro will be enough for anything you want to achieve, just learn how to tweak things around.
Speed-wise, I have sites with over 90 on PageSpeed Insights so just use webp format images, install Breeze or optimize press and. you will be fine.
Good luck!
