WordPress form – possible to send via SMTP with “from” address from a different domain?

[ad_1]

I have a Gravity Forms form on my WordPress site where someone fills in their details, including their email address. Let’s say the site’s domain is “[mysite.com](https://mysite.com)”, and that the user filling in the form inputs their email address as “[email protected]”.

The form is hooked up to an SMTP server for all email delivery using a WordPress plug-in and a 3rd-party SMTP service.

The email recipient of the person who receives all form submissions is NOT the same as the domain of the site. For example, let’s say the recipient is set to “[email protected]”.

With my current setup, all emails received seem to change so that the “from” address is converted from [“johndoe@**whatever.com**](mailto:”[email protected])” to [“johndoe@**mysite.com**](mailto:”[email protected])”. I’m assuming the SMTP service is doing this for security reasons?

1. **Is it possible for the “from” address in the received emails to show the specific email address that was entered by the user in the form, instead of forcing it to use a** [**”[email protected]**](mailto:”[email protected])**” address?**
2. **Are there any SMTP providers that can get around this issue?**
