Talking to a few developers about redesigning a few news sites I look after in an ads capacity (Sports, Fashion, and Entertainment verticals). All use [Wordpress.org]) and have been customized by all the expected plugins and some with a more nuanced setup.
Pivoting to a Headless format has been suggested by almost all the devs I’ve spoken with. What’s interesting is that they’ve advised that we can continue using WordPress as a CMS on the backend to create the stories, but frontned will be handled Headless.
Kind of a novice on the topic, but trying to get up to speed.
So far, the pros have been touted as “unrivaled speed, cleanness of code, and future-proofing” and the cons “more cost in terms of hosting and actual dev work”.
Is that a fair assessment? Are there any other considerations?
Is what Headless can do achievable with a majorly optimized WordPress setup?
Anyone made the change and if so was it worth it? Any noticeable benefits (or drawbacks) when it comes to things like SEO, Core Web Vitals etc?
