Hey guys,

I am planning to start an online financial course for children consisting of around 4 modules with 3/4 lessons each. The lessons will be presented using interactive mini-games (if possible), video recordings, theoretical material and quizzes. The platform should also have a dashboard for users and parents to track the progress of their child.
In the future, I would also like to add a gamification element with a progression system, maybe some currency.
I worked with WordPress before so I know that it\`s highly flexible. However, I know that there are multiple LMS systems made specifically for online courses.
I wanted to ask, what do you think, what\`s the best option? Go with WP and some plugins or use a dedicated platform (such as Teachable, Thinking etc.)?

The dedicated platforms will not support the kind of customization you are talking about. Go with WordPress, and expect to spend a lot of dev time or money gluing it all together.
LearnDash
WP will likely provide more flexibility with regards to payment, user management, host flexibility, etc. I’d personally go with a WP based LMS like LearnDash, Tutor, etc.
I agree with the folks saying to go with a WP-based LMS like LearnPress. I just wanted to chime in to say that *whatever you do*, **do not use Moodle**!
I honestly think I have a bit of PTSD from a nearly 10-month long project creating a fully customized Moodle install nearly 10 years ago now. It is one of my least favorite things I have ever worked on.
Sensei LMS is worth a look, very simple and Automattic, so it doesn’t get in WordPress or Woocommerce’s way.
Academy LMS/tutor lms are solid.
Make sure to:
Use a native server cron
Control heartbeat api
Use object cache (redis or memcached)
That should give you a nice performance.
A WordPress LMS gives you way more customizability than something like teachable or Kajabi.
LifterLMS is the best free WordPress LMS plugin. It has some paid add-ons, but the free core plugin is super powerful.
Use Odoo instead.
As someone who work for training company I will advice you to go with WordPress. Any out of the box LMS system requires more work, unless you opt-in very expensive solutions.
WordPress might not give you all you wish out of the box so try to adjust your requirements around what is available and don’t try to do customization or you will end up doing lot of work and development. At least at the beginning.
I had to evaluate many options over the year but we end up building our own LMS which grew over the years and cost 💲. Good luck!
I agree with the consensus here. LearnPress or LifterLMS (my preference), as examples, will do the job quite well. The core plugins are free, but some of the addons that you’ll need to meet your requirements are not, but they are worth the cost in my opinion, especially if they’re helping you earn consistently.
Also, they both integrate well with GamiPress which will help you meet your gamification needs.
Consider using h5p for the lessons
