WordPress multisite set up fine but isn’t working

I have multisite up and working on my hosting, I can add new sites and even visit the new sub-sites (EDIT: even though strangely enough on the sub site the CSS isn’t loaded), but if I try to get to the dashboard of a sub-site I get

“This page isn’t working [mywebsite.com](https://mywebsite.com/) redirected you too many times. Try clearing your cookies. ERR\_TOO\_MANY\_REDIRECTS”

anyone have any experience with this? Everything seems like it would work fine if I can get into the sub-sites dashboards
