WordPress noob; looking for a way to create a searchable database that users can contribute to

[ad_1]

Hello! I’m new here, and I think this is the right place, but let me know if I need to take this discussion elsewhere.

I’m wanting to make a database of significant contemporary classical composers and their music on my website, and I would like users of my website to be able to add, delete, and modify entries to the database. I’d want users to be able to search through the database easily from my website. A wiki where users generate entire pages for each entry is far too clunky; these entries would just have 6-7 fields.

I feel like a tool or combination of tools for this should already exist, but I am seriously struggling to find it, so I decided I’d ask for help. Full disclosure – I am using wordpress.com. I’m willing to learn to do everything locally, but if there’s a way to keep everything hosted there I’d prefer that.

Thanks so much!
