Hey, I have a website where people are dumping HTML, CSS, and shortcode straight into WordPress’ page editor.
Unsurprisingly, the formatting isn’t great and there’s a large margin for error e.g. tags aren’t properly set-up or closed.
Does anyone know of a WordPress plugin or a code editor plugin (e.g. an extension for VSCode) that could auto-format and/or highlight errors?
I would just use a regular HTML formatter for VSCode but I have WordPress’ shortcode to deal with.
I’ve searched VSCode extensions and most of them are for the WordPress package/themes and not for HTML/CSS/shortcode specifically.
Bonus if the solution can also handle JS formatting.

Your probably best of looking for a PHP formatter. It will take in to account the HTML.
Think the formatter I use for Vscode is called Prettier.
I use the most basic editor, not even a rich text editor. Have done since 2008 or so.
Never felt the need for anything more fancy and it allows for HTML to ‘just work’.
It has some basic controls to make text bold/italic and create lists and everything else needs to be done by yourself with html. It’s perfect.
