I am new to wordpress, mostly self teaching myself. About a week or two in, but I accessed a section of wordpress that was info on making changes that would benefit me in terms of seo. I don’t believe it was a plug in, It wasn’t while editing my site. It was on my homepage of wordpress.

Not really enough for us to be of much help. WordPress doesn’t have any native SEO fields/functionality.

Install the rank math plugin to get started.
I don’t know of any seo that would be built in. Most people choose either Yoast Plugin or Rank Math plugin. Yoast was the leader for a long time but I have personal experience with Rank Math outperforming Yoast, so I would lean that way. Just log into your dashboard and to to plugins, then install one of the two, not both, and they both kind of tutor you along to get the results you want.
