WordPress, WP Bakery, and TOTAL

[ad_1]

Has anyone had any positive experience using the **TOTAL Theme** from WPExplorer? I don’t see many comments or references to it here at Reddit and I don’t believe there is a sub for **TOTAL** either.

Any thoughts and guidance would be appreciated.

  1. Most of the themes that are for builders, or come with builders, mostly differ from one another with the additional features or style settings that they have. If you’re using WPBakery, then that will dictate the layout of something. The main thing to look out for is how well the theme is supported by its devs. Do they release updates for it? Is it lightweight? Is it SEO friendly? etc.

  2. Interesting. I’d never heard of this theme but the well-respected premium hosting company Kinsta has a surprisingly positive, surprisingly recent review: https://kinsta.com/blog/total-wordpress-theme/

According to the ThemeForest sales page it’s been purchased 55,000 times and may still be active on 44,000 sites. It’s been around since 2013 when WPBakery was basically the only game in town for page builders.

It’s got nearly 2000 reviews for an average rating of 4.86 stars. There are more than 20,000 comments on ThemeForest and the developers seem to respond promptly.

WPBakery used to be pigs breakfast as far as performance goes but they evidently refactored recently and their performance stats (for non-amateur builds) seem to be very good vs, say, Elementor or Divi.

I dunno. While I’m not surprised it’s not referenced here, and I’m not surprised it doesn’t have its own subreddit. I don’t see a Facebook group for it either, though there could be a private group. Looksl like there’s plenty of discussion on that ThemeForest page though.

Bottom line: I wouldn’t use it, and in general I don’t recommend ThemeForest-style ~~shovelware~~ all-in-one themes. But it seems like a popular, successful, well-liked and well-reviewed, and actively developed theme. So as those themes go it doesn’t seem to be a bad one.

  3. I had the opportunity to use WP Bakery on one project I worked on.

I wouldn’t willingly do so again.

Nowadays I use Gutenberg and Kadence blocks. Any additional requirements I write myself.
