Working with WordPress Widgets is frustrating

Hey guys,

so I'm transferring a page from Joomla to WordPress. The theme works fine. But when I go to the widgets section, to add content to my sidebar, it doesn't work as I want it to.

As soon as I copy and paste a sidebar box to my widget area, the title and the content get divided into separate boxes/widgets. When I try to "edit as HTML" it says "This block contains unexpected or invalid content." Although I just added a <h3>.

I can click "Attempt block recovery" but then it's again in two separate boxes. It's frustrating. All I can do, is to add pure HTML. But then you can't edit it except as HTML. I'm hoping friends can use this site, and I'm not sure if they will be able to edit HTML.

Am I doing something wrong here?

  1. Lately, WP seems to go in a direction that, for me at least, is questionable. Than again, I shouldn’t complain because for the price, it is amazing enough.

I hope that a startup will analyze the potential there is and maybe come up with a better solution. With every WP release, it should become easier to do so and I would definitely try a different CMS that lets me focus on content creation instead of dealing with the UI more than I want to. 🙂
