Would I be shooting myself in the foot by becoming a WordPress & Drupal developer as a new grad?

[ad_1]

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some insight from WordPress (& potentially Drupal) developers.

I’m a new grad considering two job offers. Company 1 uses .NET, Java, Angular, Bootstrap and Microsoft SQL Server. There is minimal front-end development for this position, so I wouldn’t be seeing much of Angular/Bootstrap. On the other hand, Company 2 uses WordPress, Drupal and Sharepoint. Mostly back-end development (PHP).

I’m much more interested in Company 1’s tech stack, but I’m much more passionate about Company 2. In particular, I’m totally behind their mission and love the kind of work they do, and I felt excellent chemistry with the team I would be joining.

However, I’m afraid of pigeonholing myself in a Drupal/Wordpress career. I don’t know enough about these CMS’ (or even CMS’ in general) to know whether I would like the job itself or, more importantly, gauge how difficult it would be to find a new non-CMS job later down the road.

I would appreciate any words of wisdom 🙂

**TLDR**: As a new grad with 0 YOE concerned with closing off future job prospects, would I be shooting myself in the foot by taking a SWE position centered on WordPress and Drupal?
