WP Mail SMTP Mailer Selection and Microsoft Compatibility

[ad_1]

Maybe a dumb question, but I'm working on setting up WP Mail SMTP for a client and their business email is part of a godaddy bundle that includes Microsoft 365/outlook service. I'm sure they'd be willing to pay for the pro license with WP Mail SMTP to route through Microsoft, but I was wondering it it would be possible to use one of their other SMTP mailers (sendlayer, SMTP.com, etc) for this while the official email for the site is a Microsoft 365 account?

Normally I'd assume the SMTP mailer has to match whatever account the emails originate from, but if that's not the case it would be nice to avoid the extra fees associated with the pro license and with Microsoft API access

  1. Yes. I have rigged a website for a nonprofit that uses 365 for their routine email. The website transactional emails get delivered via the WP mail SMTP plugin free version through sendmail.com free tier.

There’s some DNS monkey business required to set up SPF and DKIM, and sendmail’s web site walks you through it.

Using mass email services like gmail and outlook leaves you with very unpredictable delivery. Because of spammers.

  2. You can add smtp settings, directly in wordpress.

    Go to /settings-general.php url
    Delete -general from url

ctrl + f type smtp and there are your smtp settings fields
