Yes, another HTTP ERROR 500 post – trying to install locally, using MAMP

[ad_1]

I downloaded [wordpress.org]) and unzipped the file, put the unzipped file into the folder I use as the root for MAMP, went to localhost/wordpress … and that’s where the error pops up.

What I’ve Done:

1. verified that MAMP is running and pointing to the correct folder
2. cleared my browser’s cache (chrome)
3. tried using a different browser – Firefox – and got a blank white screen
4. tried downloading a fresh copy of WordPress and starting from scratch
5. tried downloading WordPress on a different computer (my school’s desktop in this case) – it worked as expected there

I can get my schoolwork done on the school computers, but eventually, I’m going to be in business for myself and need WordPress to work on my own computer. I have screenshots of php error logs, if those are needed.

Thanks in advance!
