Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question – long story short I hired a friend of my husbands to build me a new website for my business. It's been working pretty great for the past six months, but lately I've been getting thousands of spam emails saying bots are trying to create accounts.
I've tried to install a Captcha to stop/slow this, but I can't seem to activate it on the register account page.
The register page looks to be using tagDIV composer, which has been really helpful for modifying things, but I can't seem to add the Captcha using tagDIV.
I've emailed/texted the guy who built the site but it's not a priority to him and honestly it would be good to know how to fix these sorts of issues myself.
Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Unfortunately spam is something every website has to deal with, but fortunately there are several plug and play solutions available too.
Install an spam blocker plugin to your WordPress site, that will help block the majority if bots.
If your site doesn’t require people to have an account, you can block them from being created entirely or move your login page so the bots can’t find it. (you can also do this with a simple plugin).
If those don’t help ask your friend to set up a firewall like wordfence (free version should be fine).
While you will never get rid of spam, these will certainly reduce their impact on your website and your sanity. 😁🙏
There are a variety of both paid and free plugins to do what you need.
