We like to run promos when we introduce new products to spend $100 and get the new product for free.
To do so, I craft a coupon that adds that item to the cart for free automatically when the $100 threshold is hit.
HOWEVER. If someone reduces their cart after this happens, the free product remains in the cart and reverts to full price. Customers who check out without noticing get very angry about this result.
Is there a way to prevent this behavior or add a secondary “remove from cart” function when the threshold is no longer met?
Is there a different coupon solution that will behave better?
