Advice for a novice creating a LMS

[ad_1]

Hey all,

I’ll preface by saying I’m not a coder – I’m a med student and I’ve been building sites for a little bit with Elementor as a hobby. The most “coding” I know is basic CSS stuff. I have an incredible physician faculty member that started at my school recently, and they have a side gig outside of school where they host a live course every few months to help prepare students for our board exams. They’ve recently been talking about making a bunch of videos to upload and sell on their site in addition to the live course.

I love this professor to death, but their site’s a *little* outdated. Me being interested in design & making websites, I thought it would be a cool project for me to work on a new site for them as a surprise. Issue is that I don’t know much about LMS and what would be best for their needs. Below is what I’m looking for in a LMS:

– Site can be made with Elementor, and have a plugin only for the modules/lessons. I’m not interested in learning a new builder (Oxygen and all that sounds great, but I just don’t have time to learn a new builder).

– Subscription-based site (cannot view modules without having a paid subscription).

– Ability to add modules – I was thinking having one module, for example on cardiology, where they view a short text overview, click “Complete”, and move on to the next section where they view a 1-hour video. After watching, they click “Complete”, and move on to a quiz. There would be modules for a bunch of organ systems (i.e., cardiology, renal, GI, etc) with this type of format.

– The modules mentioned above would *all* be included in the subscription price, i.e., pay a flat $200 and get access to all the content.

– Ability to create a live course, either hosted on the site itself, or just the ability to purchase the live course (where my professor can just send them a Zoom link).

I’m comfortable with creating the site, that’s not the issue. I’m just not sure what LMS plugin (?) would be best here. Ideally, I would like to create the entire site and hand full access over to them. After giving them the site, I don’t want anything to do with having access given that money is involved with their course. Of course I’d be happy to help them with anything they need, I just don’t want to retain access to any login info.

Any advice would be super appreciated. (Note – please no comments promoting your own plugins; it’s super obvious when people do that).
