Advice for future-proof theme choice? (Are block themes ready?)

[ad_1]

I’m not a dev but a blogger running 3 travel related sites.

My main site had its last redesign in 2019, just as Gutenberg was gaining some traction. I wanted to go with Gutenberg but my dev at the time insisted we stick with Classic Editor + ACF. (He basically made a kind of page block system except with ACF repeater rows.)

I’m considering having the site rebuilt in Generatepress, reusable blocks, and just a little bit of ACF.

My worry though is that just like in 2019, I’ll be building it on a previous paradigm. I’m reading about block themes and this really feels like the logical next step.

Should I proceed with Generatepress or is now the time to build a site using blocks only? Will I regret any lock-in 3-4 years down the line?
