Hello to all WordPress professionals and enthusiasts. As the title itself says, how do you feel about security for your job in the next 10 years? We are witnessing enormous progress in the AI world when it comes to web design, and there are already almost ready-made solutions that can replace us as web designers/programmers. I know that the vast majority of our clients don’t want to deal with designing content, site layout, etc. and will still need our help. BUT, I’m also pretty sure that globally we’ll lose at least 30% of potential clients, that may not seem like much, but the upcoming generations are more and more IT industry savvy and I’m afraid that there will be a saturation of the market in the sense that there are a lot more of us workers rather than potential clients. It automatically means more fighting for clients and also lower prices… I don’t know, I’m quite worried about the AI situation in general and not only when it comes to our profession.

In my experience clients just want to hand over their web projects to someone / an agency so they don’t have to think about it. I can’t see that going away any time soon. Also, again from purely anecdotal experience, gen Z people entering the workforce are not great when it comes to IT. They are far too reliant on apps and iOS interfaces and can’t troubleshoot for shit when something inevitably breaks.
I do think people will need to broaden their skillset though. Being purely a WordPress developer might not be enough to have a steady stream of work in the future and the people who will survive will be those who have a broad skillset across web design, graphic design, IT, marketing. Someone who can be the glue between disciplines is where you want to be.
We had an AI / job security post a few hours ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/comments/1b4swsj/dont_you_fear_it_if_not_than_you_should/

This is so untrue lol.
As other comments have said, being a WP dev is not enough to have a steady stream of work.
Right now the vast majority of my income doesn’t come from my programming skills, but rather copywriting, marketing, tracking analytics, using marketing platforms, etc.
Lol even CoPilot AI suggestion is shit for WordPress coding, the AI would have to know WordPress architecture and context for generating certain code, I won’t day it’s impossible but I highly doubt an 100% coding WordPress AI.
I kind of disagree about the upcoming generations being more IT savvy, I don’t know if it’s just my area but they’re not great with actual computing, they can download apps on phones and tablets that’s about as far as it goes. I think it may be my area though, fairly rural not large population.
Less exciting to me
