As a personal experiment – I expanded the data collected by matomo, and created a front end to make the information extremely compact and easier to access.
I started doing this for my own blog but I'm wondering if this kind of visibility would help anyone understand how readers are engaging with their content.
Example – me looking at stats:
https://videos.files.wordpress.com/htsL0SyF/viewerstats-1.mp4
I created this because GA and Matomo were not giving me quite what I wanted without a lot of clicking or a lot of custom filtering / reporting. And I am not aware of any other tool that does what I want.
The things I was looking for:
How is the user reading? How slowly and how deeply are they scrolling through? Where are they currently at in terms of reading… 10% scroll, 25% scroll etc? Where are they pausing to read something more slowly?
What links did they click on? Not just the destination but which specific link did they click
Easily see the full adventure through the blog over days / weeks / etc
Basic stats – device, browser, region
A really compact single view – Not needing to open up several different reports to see all of this
Is anyone aware of something that does this really well – or – anyone interested in something that would do this for them?

GA and GTM can do all of this , or even Matamo and their tag manager probably can as well.
Throw in MS Clarity and that’s all you need
Microsoft Clarity does all the analytics on deep scroll, and it’s free.
