I’m using the Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin to sell digital assets on my website. However, I’m finding the default storefront interface too simple for the customers, for example, there is no option for sorting and filtering items by categories. It also offers limited tools for customizing the storefront interface.

Why not using woocommerce? It will be very helpful.
Have you tried Woocommerce? That’s what I use to sell my [WordPress plugin MxChat](https://mxchat.ai/) combined with Woocommerce software add-on to manage license keys and activation.
