Curious to know if anyone has been sued or has had a client being sued for a WordPress website?
What I am hearing is for American websites there are law firms going around suing website owners for not being ADA compliant.
I have also head that to be ADA compliant, is a very subjective thing and it can come down to a matter of opinion.
However with that said, who has some interesting stories to share even if they are not ADA related.
I would love to hear such stories today.

There are a couple of thresholds any a site would need to meet before “predatory” law firms would file an ADA suit.
The biggest would be that your site didn’t meet minimal standards. Core WordPress generally passes minimum standards (on the front end anyway.)
Two others would be that the site was for a brick and mortar business that met ADA standards but the site didn’t.
And not to sound cynical but the most significant factor would be that the site has to be worth enough to cover the law firms fees *if* it prevailed in court.
It’s still really important to meet accessibility standards. Because even if you’re a total jerk about disabled *people,* search engines are all essentially “blind” and mobility impaired. So you’re screwing your search engine rankings if you’re not meeting minimum standards for visual and mobility.
I’ve had many medical clients get threatend with letters from lawyers. Most of the ADA Compliant laws apply to businesses that have a physical location. Though I’ve seen it happen to profitable online only businesses.
There’s usually a window of time they allow to resolve the ADA issues before any legal action is taken. I’ve never seen a situation go beyond to that point.
