Has anyone used Softaculous cloning feature to move a WP test site? Is it straightforward?

[ad_1]

I built a test WordPress site and located it in a sub folder of our current site’s public_html folder. It is not located in a sub-domain.

I want to go live with the new WordPress site this weekend. To back up our current non-WP site, I am just going to ftp the public_html folder to a local drive.

Questions for you – have you used the clone utility on the Softaculous successfully and was it straight forward? Can I clone my WP test site that is located in a sub folder of public_html to basically one folder up into public_html?

Or would it be better to create a sub-domain, clone to that, then clone from the sub to the main domain?

Thank you all in advance

  1. I’ve never used it. I’ve always preferred performing migrations or creating duplicates with plugins through websites, such as All in One WP Migration, or via FTP like MigrateGuru.
