Are block themes suitable for beginners?

[ad_1]

Brainforce Storm has stated that Spectra One (their block theme) is not for beginners. However, elsewhere I have seen it stated that block themes are very suitable for beginners due to their simplicity.

I have no experience and I am just getting started and I'm curious what other opinions are out there in terms of the suitability of block themes for beginners.

  1. I have a hard time with block themes and I’m not a beginner, but maybe that’s based on years of experience with standard themes. Maybe it’s easier for people without preconceived notions and practices. Try one of the free block themes and see if it agrees with you.

  2. Beginner can mean a lot of things. If you have used design tools with contextual toolbars, know how to compose UIs, or have used other page builders it shouldn’t be too hard to grasp.

Brainforce probably has their Astra starter templates in mind which are indeed a lot easier for absolute beginners, but they’re built on the older pre block theme tech which requires you to code templates if you want deep customization.

With block themes you’re able to customize templates without code.

  3. I recently helped my wife build a site and after watching that, I wouldn’t recommend a block theme to a beginner.

  4. I only started really using WP in the block theme era, but I have found Kadence to be excellent.

  5. I never ever manager to use a block builder like Gutenberg or spectra. Currently migrating from Elementor to Bricks, which I find way easier to use than spectra for example.
