I’m getting into website development on WordPress and finding myself frustrated with the current tools I’m using. Before making the transition to WordPress I used Shopify and squarespace primarily.
Currently I’m using Divi with WordPress and it’s a big improvement from the base builder but I still find it to be very limiting. I have lots of experience with section/row based builders (used gempages on Shopify a ton) but I just can’t stand them.
I really liked squarespaces grid based builder, you could just place things where you wanted them, without having to spend so much time playing around with the margins. The mobile builder on squarespace is excellent as well. It feels like I could build out pages atleast twice as fast on squarespace.
I’ve heard a bit about elementor and it sounds like that might be a good option for me, but I’ve also heard it’s expensive. Any recommendations?

You can install Elementor free and [ProElements]) and if after that you think official support and the template library is worth it, you can spend the money.
But WP is not squarespace. The freedom to do whatever you want comes with the cost of having to configure things more so than a SaaS platform.
Just to be ‘that guy’ using a builder doesn’t make you a developer.
Drag/ dropping blocks isn’t the same as actually developing.
